Sri Gopi-Gita, by Manjari Dasi, 2009

Description

This 18 in. x 36 in. giclée canvas print is stretched on pine bars and shipped to your door—ready to be framed.

Archival quality, acid-free, brilliant colors.

The details of the painting come directly from the tenth canto of Srimad Bhagavatam, chapter thirty-one entitled, “Gopi-Gita,” depicting the famous autumnal rasa dance of the Divine Couple, Sri Sri Radha and Krsna. The full moon tinged with pink casts a transcendental atmosphere throughout the forest, and the swans, peacock, lotuses, and waves of the Yamuna River all meaningfully echo the Sanskrit poetry which inspires it.

“Its divine poetry was originally sung by the young cowherd-maidens (gopis) of Vraja to their beloved Sri Krishna, God Himself, while searching for Him in the autumn moonlight on the banks of the sacred river Yamuna. Concealing Himself from their sight, He listened in adoration and wonder to their expression of amorous love for Him.”

— Gopi-Gita, The Gopis’ Song of Separation, Gaudiya Vedanta Publications, 2009.
